Add ice - the secret to cooking delicious rice of the Japanese
After washing the rice and pouring it into the pot, add an appropriate amount of water and 2-3 ice cubes to cook together. Cover the pot and leave it for 15 minutes (do not plug in the rice cooker). After 15 minutes, plug in the power and turn on the rice cooker as usual.
Cooking rice with ice cubes is one of the secrets that the Japanese often apply. Note, when adding ice, you should reduce the amount of water in the pot to avoid the rice being mushy and crushed when cooked. The purpose of adding ice to the rice cooker is to delay the time for the rice to absorb water, increasing the stickiness of the rice. Adding ice to the rice also helps increase the amount of amino acids, preventing enzymes from breaking down the sweetness in the rice grains, bringing a more delicious flavor.
