A$AP Rocky’s $1.1M Neighbor Drama Hits the Courts

Rapper A$AP Rocky is being confronted with a substantial legal challenge — a $1.1 million lawsuit stemming from alleged damage caused to neighbouring units at his Manhattan condominium. According to the lawsuit filed on October 30 in Manhattan Supreme Court by Chez Ni LLC, the incident dates back to December 23, 2024, when several hot-water pipes “originating in and around” Rocky’s unit burst and triggered a cascade of water into the building’s lower units.

The complaint states that this flooding caused “destructive” damage — affecting fixtures, furnishings, structural components and even rendering one.unit uninhabitable for weeks or months while repairs were undertaken. Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim May ers, purchased the property some years ago and in December 2024 is said to have contracted ADE Pro Painting to carry out renovation work inside his unit.

In the legal filing, Chez Ni LLC — the owner of a unit directly below Rocky’s residence — accuses Rocky, the contractor, and the condominium board of negligence. They allege that the resultant flooding did not only damage property, but also forced them to seek alternative accommodations at their own cost because their unit became unlivable.

According to the documents, the plaintiff is seeking approximately $900,000 for the damage to property and belongings, plus another $200,000 to cover costs of temporary housing and other out-of-pocket expenses. The filing also notes that the condominium board apparently charged the plaintiff over $42,000 for an emergency contractor to assess and remediate damage (remove saturated drywall, install dehumidifiers, etc.) — costs which the plaintiff argues should be reimbursed by Rocky or the condo association.

The lawsuit names several defendants: Rakim May ers (A$AP Rocky), ADE Pro Painting, the condominium board, and Tyson Beem, who is listed as the beneficial owner of the unit on behalf of Rocky (a common arrangement among celebrities for real estate privacy).

One filing quote from the plaintiff’s attorney, Jonathan Jeremias of Schwartz Sladkus Reich Greenberg Atlas LLP, states:

“As a result of this terrible incident, our client … were displaced from their homes beginning last Christmas Eve and for several weeks and months following … Still, neither Mr. Mayers nor any of the parties have acknowledged fault and accepted responsibility for the damage they caused.”

A$AP Rocky, now aged 37, is best known for tracks like “Praise the Lord (Da Shine)” and “L$D,” and for his influential status in hip-hop since the early 2010s. He is also a fashion figure and has children with singer Rihanna. His net worth is estimated at around $30 million.

In summary, this lawsuit highlights not only an alleged incident of considerable property damage and disruption in a luxury New York building, but also raises questions of maintenance, contractor oversight, and responsibility in high-end real estate renovations. The outcome may set precedent for how similar disputes are handled when high-profile owners are involved.
