Are You God’s Wife? — A Story of Simple Kindness.

Are You God’s Wife? — A Story of Simple Kindness

It was a bitterly cold winter morning. A 10-year-old boy stood barefoot outside a shoe store, his nose pressed against the glass, eyes fixed on a pair of warm boots. His feet were red from the cold, his clothes thin, and his breath fogged the window as he whispered a quiet prayer: “God, please send me some shoes.”

A woman walking by noticed him. She paused, then gently asked, “What are you doing out here, sweetheart?”

“I’m asking God to give me a pair of shoes,” the boy replied, not turning away from the window.

Without hesitation, the woman took his hand and led him into the store. She asked the clerk for half a dozen pairs of socks and a sturdy pair of boots. Then she requested a basin of warm water and a towel.

In the back of the store, she knelt down, removed her gloves, and washed the boy’s feet. She dried them carefully, placed socks on his feet, and helped him into the new boots. She tied up the remaining socks and handed them to him with a smile.

As she turned to leave, the boy looked up at her with wide, astonished eyes and asked, “Are you God’s wife?”

She paused, her heart full, and replied softly, “No, I’m just one of His children.”

The boy’s question wasn’t theological—it was instinctive. In that moment, he saw divinity not in miracles, but in kindness. To him, love looked like warm socks, gentle hands, and someone who cared enough to stop.

This story isn’t just about charity—it’s about presence. It’s about seeing someone in need and choosing to act. The woman didn’t change the world that day. But she changed his world. And sometimes, that’s enough.
