Big Brother fans fume ‘she can't get away with this’ as they slam housemate

Big Brother Viewers Furious as Caroline Sparks Backlash Over 'Antichrist' Comment Toward Richard

The drama inside the Big Brother house has intensified once again, with fans voicing outrage over controversial contestant Caroline Monk and her treatment of fellow housemate Richard. Viewers have taken to social media to express frustration that Caroline “keeps getting away” with her remarks, especially after Sunday’s (November 2) explosive episode following the double eviction.

During the show, Caroline appeared visibly stunned that Richard survived the public vote. Speaking privately to Big Brother in the Diary Room, the 56-year-old Essex native said:

“I’m just shocked that people would want someone like Richard in here. Bless his little soul. I don’t dislike the man, but he doesn’t give a thing to the house. He doesn’t join in anything.”

Caroline went on to express her sadness over Farida’s departure, describing her as “fun” and “full of life.” The PR specialist grew emotional, saying:

“Every time I get a friend that’s fun, everyone takes them away. I actually felt like I wanted to cry… She made a real impact. She made it fun again.”

Her tearful confession briefly showed a softer side — but the mood quickly shifted later in the episode when Caroline referred to Richard as the “Antichrist.”

That remark triggered an immediate backlash online. Many ITV viewers accused her of making an unnecessarily cruel and possibly discriminatory comment, as Richard is a practicing Christian. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) fumed:

“So Caroline is STILL calling Richard the ‘Antichrist.’ It’s disgusting and disrespectful.”

Another user added, “She shouldn’t be allowed to keep getting away with this kind of behavior. It’s bullying, plain and simple.”

Others chimed in, with one writing: “Caroline thinks Richard is boring, but this witch hunt she’s started against him is what’s really dull. I’m tired of the bullying — it’s one-sided and unfair.”

According to Metro UK, Caroline’s comments have “sparked an ethics debate” among fans who believe that the Big Brother environment should be a space for entertainment, not personal attacks. Some viewers have even suggested that producers should issue a warning, citing the show’s previous zero-tolerance stance on bullying (BBC News, 2024).

Still, a minority of fans continue to defend Caroline, arguing that while her behavior is controversial, she remains one of the most entertaining housemates this season. “She’s unpredictable, dramatic, and TV gold,” one Reddit user wrote. “Without her, the show would be half as interesting.”

Entertainment columnist Grace Dent of The Guardian recently commented that Caroline “embodies the chaos that keeps reality television alive — but there’s a fine line between being bold and being cruel.”

Whether Caroline faces consequences remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: this latest scandal has reignited conversations about how reality TV contestants should be held accountable for their words and actions — both inside and outside the house.

As one viewer aptly summed it up on social media:

“Caroline’s fuming because Richard’s kindness makes him more popular than she’ll ever be.”
