Clothes are easily wrinkled when washed: Put something cheap in the machine when washing, the clothes will come out flat.

To Keep Your Clothes Wrinkle-Free When Using a Washing Machine, Just Add This Simple Extra Step

Sort Your Laundry Properly

Before putting clothes into the washing machine, make sure to sort them carefully. Group items with similar fabrics, thickness, and colors so they can be washed together under the same washing mode. This not only helps clean the clothes more effectively but also prolongs their lifespan. Proper sorting reduces friction between different materials and prevents delicate items from wearing out too quickly.

Check All Pockets Before Washing

Always check every pocket thoroughly before placing clothes in the washer. Items like tissues, coins, lighters, keys, or receipts can damage the clothes, leave stains, or even harm the washing machine over time. A quick inspection takes only a few seconds but can save you from a lot of hassle later.

Add Plastic Bottles to Reduce Wrinkles

One surprisingly effective trick is to place a couple of empty plastic bottles into the washing machine along with your clothes. These bottles help prevent clothes from twisting together during the wash cycle, which reduces wrinkling significantly.

The method is simple:
Prepare two empty plastic bottles, tighten the caps moderately—not too loose but not overly tight either. Load the washing machine with a moderate amount of clothes; avoid overloading or underloading the drum. Then place the two bottles in and run your usual washing program.
Once the cycle finishes, you’ll notice your clothes come out much less wrinkled than usual.

Alternatively, you can use washing balls, which not only enhance the cleaning process but also prevent clothes from tangling and stretching during the wash.

Use Laundry Bags for Delicate Items

When washing delicate garments—such as silk, lace, knitwear, or anything prone to pilling—it’s best to place them in laundry bags. Laundry bags reduce friction, prevent fabrics from snagging, and keep fine garments from being damaged by heavier items inside the machine. This small step helps preserve their shape and texture much longer.

Add Ice Cubes to the Dryer

If you dry your clothes in a dryer, try tossing in two or three ice cubes along with the load. The heat inside the dryer melts the ice, creating steam. This steam naturally relaxes the fibers of the garments, helping smooth out wrinkles without needing to iron afterward.

Be careful not to use too many ice cubes, as overloading the dryer with moisture can prevent clothes from drying thoroughly.

Hang Clothes Immediately After Washing

After the washing cycle ends, remove clothes promptly and hang them up right away. Leaving clothes sitting in the washing machine for too long can cause deeper creases and may even create an unpleasant odor. Before hanging, give each garment a quick shake to help loosen the fabric and reduce wrinkles further. This small action makes clothes dry smoother and look fresher.
