Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It provides energy after a long night and helps kickstart your body for a productive morning. Regardless of your income level, if you’re still starting your day with the following three types of food, you should reconsider immediately – the consequences could be dangerous in the long run.
1. Deep-fried and greasy foods
Popular breakfast items such as fried dough, deep-fried sausages, hash browns, and spring rolls are commonly consumed for convenience. However, when oil is repeatedly heated at high temperatures, it produces harmful substances such as acrylamide and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), both of which are carcinogenic. Regular consumption of these substances in the morning — when your digestive system is just waking up — puts pressure on the liver and intestines. Over time, this can lead to cellular mutations and the development of cancers, particularly liver and colorectal cancer.
2. Processed meats
Items like ham, sausages, cold cuts, and bacon are convenient and widely used for breakfast, especially in busy households. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has classified processed meats as Group 1 carcinogens. These foods often contain nitrites, which can transform into nitrosamines in the body — extremely dangerous cancer-causing agents. Consuming them regularly in the morning, when your body needs clean fuel, significantly increases your risk of developing malignant tumors.
3. Sugary drinks like condensed milk, bubble tea, or sweetened coffee
Many people start their day with a sugary beverage, thinking it’s a quick way to gain energy. However, drinks like bubble tea, sweetened coffee, or soft drinks often contain very high sugar content. This causes a sudden spike in blood sugar and insulin levels, which — if it becomes habitual — can support the growth of cancer cells, particularly in the pancreas and liver. Additionally, drinking sugary beverages on an empty stomach can cause fatigue, poor concentration, and fat accumulation.
