Harry Potter star Nick Moran was forced to undergo emergency surgery after a pain in his neck turned out to be something more serious.

Moran played bad guy Scabior in both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He's also known for his roles in Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Accident Man, and The Musketeer.

According to Terry Stone, who claims to be a friend of Moran's, the actor had been complaining of having neck pain and while his partner urged him to go get it checked out, he simply 'put some deep heat on it'.

Stone claimed Moran was eventually convinced to see his doctor, and before he knew it the 55-year-old was in the emergency room being told he needed surgery because they'd found something 'life-threatening'.

Sharing details of the ordeal, Stone told MailOnline: "I spoke to one of his family members and he damaged his neck somehow and it’s affecting his spinal cord and some of the things that operate your speech and your legs."

Stone went on to say that doctors told Moran that if he didn't have the procedure, then he risked being left unable to walk or talk.

Ultimately, the actor had the surgery, where doctors cut into his spine and removed four bones from his neck.

Giving an update on how Moran's doing now, Stone told the news outlet: "He's recovering but [doctors] basically said [ahead of surgery] that he might never walk or talk again, which was traumatic. He's not in the best of health, but when he came out of the operation I was like 'thank god' because I think he'd decided he'd rather not walk or talk than die'."

He went on to share: "They had to replace [bones in his neck] with artificial bone, it was micro surgery and because there's so many nerves around the neck and spine this made the operation tricky with those awful chances of not being able to speak or walk again."

In the wake of Stone's comments, Moran's rep has issued a statement to UNILAD in which he said that while there had been some inaccurate reporting surrounding the actor's health, he did have surgery 'a little over a week and a half ago' and is now home, 'walking, talking, and making a full recovery'.

"Nick will be back working on his next film shortly and is looking forward to being back studio tending to his busy schedule," he said.

He added: "Nick would like to thank all of the well wishers and assure them that he is well and appreciative for their support."
