Illegal Zoo in Singapore Exposed as Hub for Underground Betting Ring

Singapore authorities have intensified their crackdown on illegal gambling, uncovering a disturbing twist: an alleged illegal zoo operating as a front for an underground betting syndicate. While details remain under investigation, reports suggest that the facility was not just housing exotic animals without proper licenses — it was also serving as a covert meeting point for high-stakes betting operations.

According to recent investigations, the zoo was part of a broader network tied to multi-million dollar illegal gambling activities. These syndicates have been linked to money laundering and organized crime across Southeast Asia, with operations stretching into China, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Dubai.

In coordinated raids, Singaporean police — working with international agencies including the FBI and Meta — arrested several individuals and seized assets worth over SGD 500,000. Another joint operation with Malaysian authorities led to the arrest of 43 suspects and the seizure of S$14 million in property and cash.

While the zoo itself has not been officially named in public documents, its alleged role as a cover for criminal activity has sparked outrage and concern among animal rights groups and law enforcement alike.

Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the syndicate’s operations, and further charges are expected under Singapore’s Gambling Control Act 2022.
