People call on government to intervene after Elon Musk posts worrying tweet
Just when it looked like Elon Musk had given up on politics, the world's richest man again finds himself in the eye of a political storm. 2025 has been a big year for Mr. Musk, starting strong as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency. However, it wasn't a dream that lasted long.
Tasked with trimming the federal fat and saving the government some $2 trillion, Elon Musk bowed out of DOGE after apparently cutting just $175 million – with even that up for debate. There was an explosive falling out with President Donald Trump, in which the tech billionaire famously claimed that the POTUS’ name was listed in the redacted Epstein Files.
Even after Musk appeared to bow out of politics, he vowed to form his own America Party to rival the Democrats and the Republicans.
Not content with tackling US politics, he's also made his feelings clear on the state of the United Kingdom.

Famously criticizing Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Musk claimed that safeguarding minister Jess Phillips was a 'rape genocide apologist', and also took umbrage with Nigel Farage leading the Reform Party.
Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock branded Musk 'a national enemy' to the UK, and following another post where he's waded into the country's politics, there are calls for the government to intervene. Despite holding South African, Canadian, and U.S. citizenships (although there have been calls to revoke his Canadian citizenship), he has no real stake in the UK. This made an inflammatory post even more alarming to many, with Musk taking to his X platform to discuss UK politics.
Posting to his 228.5 million followers, Musk wrote: "Civil war in Britain is inevitable. Just a question of when."
It's seemingly in response to a series of incidents involving migrants and rising tensions about immigration that the warring political parties are largely fueling.
Slamming the billionaire, one person on X wrote: "No one in Britain has guns and the left /right divide is basically conservative retirees vs everyone else, you could end the kind of civil war Musk wants with a stiff breeze."
Over on Reddit, a post on the r/AskBrits subreddit asked: "How is this okay and why isn’t our government doing more to address this type of incitement?"
Responding in a typically British way, one person joked: "There will be tea, biscuits and scones. A very civil war indeed."
Another added: "Who gives a đ©what he says? America seems to be having enough issues at the moment. Us Brits love to complain but we aren't prone to gun-fuelled riots."
A third claimed the OP was overreacting as they concluded: "Yeah, nothing about this is incitement. He definitely is stoking fires, but he's not pouring gasoline all over it and throwing a match at it."
Still, at a time when the United Kingdom is looking like a powder keg that could be lit at any moment, the idea that someone with no real skin in the game and as much power as Musk is throwing their opinions out there is clearly a concern for some.
