The house is full of dust even though it is cleaned regularly

If you’re tired of cleaning but your house still gets dusty, try these 3 simple tricks.

Most people clean and tidy their homes every day or every few days to keep the living environment neat and hygienic, which helps everyone feel more comfortable and stay healthy.
However, even if you clean often and rarely open your windows, furniture and floors still tend to gather dust quickly.

After a long, tiring workday, you still have to cook and take care of your children — so it’s hard to find the time and energy to keep cleaning. But that layer of dust looks so unpleasant! So, what can you do?

In fact, when cleaning your home, there are a few small tricks you can use to make it harder for dust to stick to furniture and floors. That way, even if you don’t clean for an entire week, your house can still look tidy and dust-free.

1. Use rice water to mop the floor

When mopping, many people can’t wait for the floor to dry completely before walking on it, leaving visible footprints. Moreover, damp floors attract dust more easily. To fix this, you can use rice water (the water from rinsing rice) to mop the floor.

Rice water is a natural detoxifier — it doesn’t damage the surface but actually helps protect it. After cleaning with rice water, your floors will be spotless, and even if you walk on them barefoot before they dry, they won’t show footprints. At the same time, rice water forms a thin protective film that prevents dust from clinging to the surface.

You can also add a small amount of white wine (or rubbing alcohol) to the rice water. The alcohol helps disinfect, kill bacteria, and speed up the evaporation process, preventing footprints from forming after you walk across the floor.

2. Use fabric softener to clean wooden furniture

Wooden furniture is often coated with a layer of wax to protect it from moisture and decay. When you wipe wood with a cloth, friction between the cloth and wax can create static electricity. This static charge attracts fine dust in the air, making wooden surfaces dusty again in a short time.

So, if you have wooden furniture at home, it’s best to add a small amount of fabric softener to the cleaning water. The reason is that fabric softener helps eliminate static electricity, which in turn prevents dust from being drawn to the furniture.

3. Use soapy water to clean glass surfaces

Cleaning glass can be tricky — if you use only plain water, it often leaves streaks or smudges that are hard to remove. If this problem frustrates you, try using soapy water instead. Soap has great cleaning power; it removes tough stains on glass and prevents streaks, leaving windows and mirrors crystal clear and shiny.

If you have leftover beer at home, you can also mix beer with water at a 1:10 ratio. Dip a dry cloth into the solution and use it to wipe your glass surfaces. This not only makes the glass sparkle and shine but also helps keep it dust-free for a long time.
