The interesting secret behind the super-large "holes" in the middle of high-rise buildings in Hong Kong
At first, we may think this is a confusing, space-consuming, ineffective design, but it is not!
First, to explain this "strange" design, we need to know its name. According to traditional Hong Kong customs, these empty spaces are often called "Dragon Gates".
The Dragon Gates are actually not designed for the wrong purpose, but it turns out that they were created to suit Feng Shui.
To create a space for the Dragon to fly from the mountains to the water, through the buildings every day and return every evening, bringing good luck to this place.
If not built like this, it will block the path of the Dragon, from which good luck cannot exist.
Hong Kong business people also take this very seriously, because according to them, feng shui includes "wind and water", which are connected to the energy of the Earth. The exact location of the gate creates the appropriate flight path for the "Dragon God" and is also one of the important factors in feng shui here.
A typical example of "going against the crowd" is the 72-storey tower, the headquarters of the Bank of China, which has been heavily criticized because the shape of this building is completely unconventional and does not have a "Dragon Gate".
Completely different from the feng shui style of construction in Hong Kong, it brings "killing energy" to surrounding buildings and companies because of its sharp and unlucky design.
Feng shui experts believe that this is what makes the businesses next door ineffective.
Specifically, the owner of the Lippo Centre building, which is being pointed at by a "spike" of the Bank of China tower, went bankrupt and had to sell the entire building.
This made the surrounding buildings worried as well. So the HSBC bank next door built... 2 cannons on top of the building to counteract the "negative energy" from the other Bank tower.
Hong Kong's remarkable development in recent years is attributed to good feng shui. The favorable geographical location with mountains behind and sea in front is considered extremely suitable for the principles of feng shui.
Because the old legend still believes that the mountains are where the "Dragon Gods" live, carrying positive energy. This energy will blow through Hong Kong when the Dragon flies from the mountain to the sea to drink water and bathe.
Isn't it really interesting? On the occasion of the year-end holiday, if you have free time, take a trip to this country to admire those extremely mysterious Dragon doors!
