When filling up with gas, don't be foolish to say full tank or 50 thousand

Gasoline continues to rise to record levels, so when refueling, people should remember the following tips to save as much money as possible.

Observe the “regular” gas stations used by taxi drivers
You should buy gasoline at stations frequently visited by taxi or truck drivers. This is a smart little trick many consumers use. Since taxi and truck drivers refuel often, they usually know which stations are more trustworthy.

Don’t shout “fill it up”
Many people tend to ask for a “full tank.” Stop doing this immediately because it can create opportunities for staff to cheat.
The reason is that most pumps use an automatic nozzle with a back-suction mechanism. When the fuel reaches the nozzle tip, it stops the flow to prevent overflow — meaning you lose a small amount of fuel without realizing it.

The best way: check the current price per liter, ask them to pump by liter, and carefully watch the display for liters and cost. After a few times, you’ll know if the station is honest.

Pay attention to the pump display
When refueling, watch whether the money and liters displayed match up correctly. This helps detect cheating.

Use the correct fuel type
For example, scooters require RON 95, while manual motorbikes use RON 92. Using the correct fuel helps the engine burn efficiently, avoid residue, save power, and reduce fuel consumption.

Best time to refuel
If you refuel in the morning or evening, the same volume may yield slightly more fuel because the tank is cooler and denser. The ideal time is around 5–8 a.m. when storage tanks are at their lowest temperature.

Compare between purchases
If you always travel the same route and refuel at the same station, buy a fixed amount of gasoline and check your fuel gauge. Compare it with other times and stations to choose the most trustworthy one.

Do you know what this black lever on your scooter is for?
It locks the rear wheel to prevent rolling when parked on a slope, acting like a handbrake in cars. While it doesn’t prevent theft, it makes stealing harder because thieves need more time to unlock it.

How to use it: squeeze the rear brake lever, push the latch until you hear a click, then release. The rear wheel will stay locked. To unlock, squeeze again and release.

Bad scooter habits you must quit to avoid danger

  1. Using only the front brake in every situation
This is dangerous because scooters have small wheels and short suspension travel, making them unstable under sudden braking. You should use both brakes together.

  2. Accelerating while braking
Common when going downhill or stopping at red lights. This burns the clutch, wastes fuel, and damages the engine.

  3. Leaving the engine running when stopped
If someone accidentally twists the throttle, the bike may lurch uncontrollably. Always turn off the engine.

  4. Riding immediately after starting
Many riders don’t wait for the FI indicator light to go off. Always let the engine idle 30 seconds in the morning before riding — it prevents hard starts and engine wear.

  5. Riding with underinflated tires
This increases rolling resistance, forces the engine to work harder, and wastes fuel. A 20% drop in pressure can raise fuel consumption by 10%. But don’t overinflate either, or the ride becomes rough and risky in hot weather.

  6. Randomly changing engine oil
Using the wrong oil shortens engine life. Always follow the manufacturer’s manual or ask a trusted mechanic. Replace oil every ~5,000 km, oil filter at 10,000 km, air filter at 20,000 km, fuel filter at 40,000 km, and spark plugs at 100,000 km.
