Woman has 13 meter long fingernails after nearly 30 years without cutting
American woman stunned with nails measuring 13 meters in total. She has not cut her nails for nearly 30 years after a heartbreaking tragedy.
Diana Armstrong (66 years old, living in Minnesota, USA) won the Guinness World Record for the Woman with the World's Longest Fingernails in 2022. The total length of her 10 fingernails is 13 meters.
Since 1997, Armstrong has not cut her nails, now her nails reach the floor and she likes to decorate them with different colors.
The official Instagram account of Guinness World Records highlighted Diana Armstrong's achievement: "The total length of Armstrong's fingernails is longer than a standard yellow school bus. Armstrong has been growing her nails for over 27 years."

Armstrong always attracts attention on social networks. Many people wonder how she does her daily activities and personal hygiene: "How can she do everything?"; "Can't she even do her personal hygiene?"; "How many bottles of nail polish do you need for such long nails?"...
Recently, Armstrong answered those questions in the Daily Star: "You know, when I go to the toilet, it's the same as anyone else going to the toilet, except with these long nails, there's a different way than everyone else. I use a lot of toilet paper. I don't wrap it around my hands like some people do, I can't do that, because it won't work."
Each time she takes care of her nails, it takes her about 4-5 hours to paint the whole set. She needs to prepare 15-20 bottles of nail polish to beautify her nails. Usually her grandchildren will help her do this job.
Armstrong said that whenever she went out, people would always notice and comment, many people would approach her and ask to take pictures together. Armstrong did not feel bothered by these things. Over time, she gradually got used to the attention every time she went out, and even felt happy because she brought a sense of pleasant surprise to many people. Her family members all accepted her nails and considered it a familiar thing.

The story behind why Armstrong grew her fingernails so long that they set a world record is heartbreaking. One morning in 1997, Armstrong left home to go to the supermarket. After she left, her youngest daughter called and said her older sister Latisha, 16, had passed out. The mother returned home and was heartbroken to discover that her daughter had died in her sleep from an asthma attack.
"It was the worst day of my life," Armstrong said.
Before that, Latisha had always taken great care of her nails on the weekends. Armstrong recalled: "Latisha was the only one who did my nails. She filed them and polished them so carefully and beautifully." Armstrong suffered from depression for a decade after her daughter's death, and growing her nails was a way for her to honor her daughter and keep her memory alive.
