A:dult star reveals the clause written into her contract that helps keep her safe

A well-known adult film star has revealed an unexpected clause that's included in her contracts.

Maitland Ward initially gained fame as a traditional actress, landing her big break on the popular 1990s sitcom Boy Meets World. She also appeared in movies and TV shows like White Chicks, The Bold and The Beautiful, and Dish Dogs. However, in 2019, she left Hollywood behind to pursue a more daring career in the adult industry.

Now, several years later, Ward has become a well-known adult film star, earning ten times more than she did as a mainstream actress. She also believes that people show her more respect now compared to before.

"I genuinely believe people treat me with more respect now, especially even in Hollywood," Ward previously shared with Fox News. "I'm pitching my memoir in a TV format and speaking with people. They are so respectful and positive about my story, especially younger folks and different individuals I talk to in Hollywood."

Ward released her memoir, titled My Escape from Hollywood: Unapologetic, Unfiltered, and Unashamed, in September 2022. Over the years, she’s been very open about her experiences working in the adult industry and even disclosed that she has specific clauses in her contracts.

"People think a porn set is like some wild orgy 24/7, but it’s actually far more controlled than you could imagine," she told The Sun in 2022. "All the sexual positions must be agreed upon and written down clearly. You agree in writing to perform on camera, and exactly what that performance will entail."

Ward continued, saying, "You have to confirm you're not under the influence of anything or anyone. Even celebrity sex tapes these days—if that film is being sold in stores with a cover—those involved would have to consent to that."

She further insisted, "I’ve never, ever been pressured to do anything I didn’t want to by a male director or fellow performer."

"In the sets I’ve worked on, if you say no, the filming stops immediately, no questions asked," Ward added.

While she didn’t specifically mention the types of things she might refuse, her fellow performer, Angela White, has. White stated that she would never engage in anything illegal, hateful, or derogatory.

"I focus on things that are fun, working with directors I enjoy, and performers I genuinely connect with," White continued. "That’s my focus."
