Peter opened the first travel file on camera. It contained the original escort record and the altered version placed in the airline archive. Each change carried an employee number, exact time, and approval source. The same administrator approved all nine CR1. Clare looked at Celeste.

Celeste Rowan. Celeste did not react. Peter checked the archived employee directory. CR-01 had belonged to Celeste when she directed family passenger services. The account remained active for 3 years after her resignation.

Dr. Lane found his nephew's record. The original showed that he reported the child missing after 19 minutes. The altered file changed it to 1 hour and 59 minutes. It also changed Clare's statement. Clare's handwritten report said she found the boy alone, challenged the escort record, and contacted a supervisor.

The official version claimed Clare completed an approved handoff. For the first time, Clare saw proof that her report had been rewritten. Simone believed I helped hide it, she whispered. Peter shook his head. She discovered the alteration two weeks later.

"That is why she contacted you." "I refused to meet her." "Yes." Clare looked at Nia. She had not created the gate 17 failure. But when given another chance that morning, she again chose authority over evidence. She planted the bracelet, lied about seeing Nia near Celeste's seat, and threatened two children because a former director told her it was necessary. Someone had once changed Clare's truthful report.

Today, Clare changed the truth herself. Zuri looked towards Celeste. Why were children moved at all? Peter opened Simone's notebook. The early pages listed gates, times, and staff names.

The later pages described an internal system called quiet transfer. It began as a tool for emergencies. If a child's assigned guardian became unavailable, authorized employees could move the child to a protected location without displaying that location on public gate screens. Celeste converted it into a performance test. She selected children whose relatives had limited English, missed connections, or complicated custody files.

Then she altered their escorts or moved them to incorrect rooms to measure how long frontline staff took to notice. Employees who questioned the record were marked difficult. Employees who trusted the screen over the child were promoted. The children were never informed they had been used. Neither were their families.

You treated them like luggage, Nia said. Celeste's composure finally cracked. No child was injured. Dr. Lane stood. My nephew believed I abandoned him.

He stopped speaking for two days. That was not the intended outcome. It was an outcome you erased. Officer Hayes asked Kansas City police to place Celeste under temporary detention for fraud, evidence tampering, and conspiracy to interfere with child custody. Celeste remained seated.

"You still do not understand why Simone created those cases." "Simone documented what you did," Peter replied. She participated in it. The accusations silenced the cabin. Peter closed the notebook. That is a lie.

Celeste looked at Zuri and Nia. Ask why your mother had access to a hidden system. Ask why she knew every test location before the children disappeared. Nia gripped her sister's hand. Celeste continued.

Simone designed the first three tests. Peter moved toward her, but Mercer stopped him. She believed the children were trained volunteers, Peter said. That is what she later claimed. The recovered records contained no authorization from Simone.
