When Anna discovered the truth behind her husband’s lies, she took matters into her own hands, ultimately finding the strength to change her life forever
Anna had always been the devoted wife, putting her husband, Boris, first. But when she discovered his secret plans, everything changed.
One day, while preparing to cook dinner, Anna realized she had forgotten her wallet at home. She quickly called Boris to bring it, but he didn’t answer. Frustrated, she rushed back to the apartment to retrieve it.
When Anna reached the door, she overheard a conversation that would shatter her world. Boris was speaking to someone, and what she heard sent a chill down her spine.
“Yes, I’ve thought it through. The apartment is almost transferred. Just need to move the money.”
The shock paralyzed Anna. Her heart raced as she clung to the doorframe, unable to process what she was hearing. What apartment? What money? What was he planning?
He continued, “Sure, there’s a risk, but she doesn’t suspect anything. She’ll endure everything. She’s quiet.”
Anna’s pain was immediate. How could Boris speak about her this way? After all these years, everything she had done for him — how could he betray her like this?
Boris continued, “We could fly to Paris, just like you wanted. Once everything’s settled. I can picture us walking down the Champs-Élysées. You’ll buy yourself something nice.”
The words stung. Anna stood frozen, listening to her husband make future plans with another woman. She couldn’t believe it. When the call ended, she finally moved, her world crumbling around her.
Quietly, Anna stepped away from the door, hiding around the corner. Her mind raced with questions. What should she do? Confront him? Stay silent and gather information?
Boris soon walked by her, oblivious to her presence. Anna slipped outside and walked aimlessly. Her groceries forgotten, she wandered until she found a park, sitting down on a bench and covering her face with her hands.
Anna tried to process what had happened. Was he planning to leave her? She called her friend Irina, who immediately sensed something was wrong. “Are you okay?” Irina asked.
“I’m not anymore,” Anna replied, and shared everything with her.
Irina suggested Anna come over, and after spending hours talking, Anna felt a little better. On her way home, she checked the bank account and noticed less money than expected.
“Alright,” she whispered, “You want to play big? Let’s play.”
Back at home, Boris greeted her with irritation, “Where have you been? I’ve been sitting here hungry all day.”
Anna stayed calm, placing the groceries on the table. “I stopped by Irina’s.”
Boris scoffed and went back to the TV. Anna cooked in silence, formulating her plan. She had to stay calm, find out more, and then make her move.
The next day, Anna took a day off and began searching through Boris’s documents and computer. She found messages with a lawyer discussing divorce and property division. The realization hit hard.
Determined, Anna took photos of the evidence, contacted a lawyer, and started preparing for the divorce. She opened a separate bank account and transferred some savings, all while keeping her composure around Boris.
That evening, she set the table as usual. When Boris sat down, Anna placed a folder of documents in front of him.
“What’s this?” he asked, frowning.
“Our future,” Anna replied with a bitter smile. “I’m filing for divorce.”
Boris went pale. He tried to speak, but Anna cut him off.
“Don’t bother with excuses. I know everything. I heard your call. I saw the messages. You thought you could take everything from me? Think again.”
Boris froze, speechless. Anna continued, “Don’t expect to walk away with it all. I’ve hired a lawyer. We’ll split everything, and forget Paris. Don’t try hiding anything. I have the proof.”
Anna’s tone was cold. “I’ve come to terms with everything. You spent so much time planning this ‘surprise’ for me. Well, what goes around comes around.”
Boris sat still, pale. “Anya, listen…” he muttered.
“No, enough,” Anna interrupted. “Your games are over. You thought I wouldn’t notice? That I’d sit quietly while you tossed me aside? You were wrong.”
“This is your fault!” Boris shouted. “You were always so boring! You pushed me to this!”
Anna looked at him with disgust. “I never imagined you were such a coward. Couldn’t even be honest about leaving. Now, pack your things and leave.”
Boris yelled and blamed her, but Anna no longer listened. Eventually, he left. The court ruled his attempt to transfer the property was illegal, and the assets were split equally. Boris’s additional lawsuits were all unsuccessful.
Months passed. Anna began to heal. She attended a friend’s birthday party — her first real outing in a while. There, she met Andrey, a kind-hearted man who had recently lost his wife. They instantly clicked.
Andrey was attentive, funny, and sincere — everything Anna had been missing. They started seeing each other often, and he helped her move on. Their bond grew stronger, and Andrey soon proposed. Anna said yes without hesitation.
Their wedding was simple but full of warmth, and they began a new life together. Anna left behind the pain of the past and embraced a future filled with love and trust.
Through the divorce, Anna learned to value herself. She had found the love and respect she deserved, and she was grateful for the twist of fate that brought Andrey into her life.
Looking at Andrey now, Anna knew that happiness didn’t come from material things but from love, support, and care. She cherished every moment, knowing she had finally found her true soulmate.
