VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WABC) — Former NFL cornerback Samuel Beal has been missing for seven months, according to a heartfelt Facebook post shared by his sister, Essence Zhane, who is now urgently asking for the public’s help in locating her brother.

Zhane said the family has exhausted every option available to them and is desperately seeking new leads that could help explain Beal’s disappearance. She is urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact either the Kentwood Police Department or the Virginia Beach Police Department.

Beal is best known for playing two seasons with the New York Giants, where he appeared as a promising defensive back. Since his disappearance, however, his family says they have been left with more questions than answers.

“Tomorrow marks seven months since we last heard from or saw my brother,” Zhane wrote. “We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together, and at this point we are in desperate need of support from all sides.”

She emphasized that her goal is not to debate theories or speculation, but simply to reach the right people who may be able to help bring clarity or closure. “I’m not here to answer a bunch of ‘whys’ or ‘hows.’ I just need this to land in the right direction,” she said.

Zhane also expressed the emotional toll the situation has taken on her and her family. “I’m a big sister, and I need my brother to know that we love him and miss him. This has been a heavy feeling to carry for months.”

According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Beal was last seen on July 12, 2025, when he dropped his girlfriend off at a family member’s home. That same day, he borrowed her vehicle and told her he was heading to work. Instead, investigators say he drove to Virginia Beach.

During a phone call with his girlfriend, Beal confirmed that he was in Virginia Beach and said he planned to return home. He never arrived. Later, the girlfriend’s vehicle was found in Virginia Beach, raising serious concern about his safety.

Inside the recovered vehicle, Beal’s shoes and socks were discovered on the front passenger-side floor, along with traces of sand. Authorities also confirmed that Beal did not take any personal belongings with him beyond what he was wearing at the time.

“Samuel did not bring anything with him aside from the clothes he was wearing, a pair of slides, and his wallet containing his banking card and driver’s license,” his missing persons report states.

As the investigation continues, Zhane remains hopeful that someone may come forward with critical information that could help locate her brother or explain what happened in the hours before he vanished.
