Kay Adams opens up about personal life in revealing interview — and what’s she’s looking for in a boyfriend

Kay Adams spoke about her love life during a November 2025 installment of the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast.Kay Adams in February 2025.
Kay Adams is opening up about more than just football strategy these days.
During a candid appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast on Tuesday, the “Up & Adams” host peeled back the curtain on her personal life, sharing why she finally feels “in a good place” to settle down — and what it took for her to get there.

Adams explained to hosts Will Compton and Taylor Lewan that much of her adult life has been spent in what she calls “survival mode,” constantly thinking about the next challenge and how to navigate her career.
“I think I haven’t known what I’ve wanted super much,” she admitted. “I’m always in survival mode of what’s next, how am I gonna survive and advance — that’s a life thing.”

Now, however, the 39-year-old sportscaster says she feels more grounded than ever.
“I’m very happy with where I am,” Adams shared. “I’m settled, I’m a little more calm, and I feel a lot more able to be there for someone else. That’s where I am.” She added with a laugh, “Dating’s funny though, you know?”

A “relationship girl” with a simple ideal date

Adams, who describes herself as a lifelong “relationship girl,” revealed that her ideal first date is surprisingly cozy and traditional.
She prefers a “quiet, intimate dinner” — and she appreciates when her date takes charge and picks up the tab, something she says makes her feel cared for and considered.

But despite being comfortable in long-term relationships, Adams says she has “very little experience actually dating.”

“The truth is, I’ve realized I have almost no dating experience,” she confessed. “If you’re persistent enough to get to a first date with me, we’re already in love. You’re my boyfriend. We are consummating — not physically — but like, ‘yep, now it begins.’”
She joked that most of her relationships have started immediately after date one.

What she looks for in a partner

When asked what qualities win her over, Adams emphasized intelligence, humor, and emotional security.
“Intelligence and wit? That’ll impress me on a first date,” she said. “But banter — real banter — that’s rare. And loyalty… that’s everything. I need to feel secure. I need someone who makes me feel secure. Loyalty is more important than anything, and I’m a very loyal person myself.”

Adams has long been known for her sharp football analysis and upbeat on-air personality, but her romantic life has also been the subject of frequent speculation.

Pushing back on past relationship rumors

Last September, Adams publicly shut down rumors linking her to then–New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
“I’m not dating Daniel Jones — breaking news,” she said on The 25/10 Show. “I’ve met him all of two times. Wish him the best.”

Jones, now 28, is experiencing a career resurgence with the 8–2 Indianapolis Colts after a rocky period with the Giants (source: The Athletic), adding fuel to renewed interest in his personal life — and, by extension, Adams’.

Despite the rumors and the spotlight, Adams maintains she is optimistic about the future and more open to a lasting relationship than ever before.
