Man Brought Grill & Truckload Of Food To Help Feed Tornado Victims in Kentucky
He’s doing his part!
In the wake of the devastating tornadoes that tore through Kentucky, one man went above and beyond to help victims of the disaster. Jim Finch drove to Mayfield, Kentucky, armed with a grill and a truckload of food, determined to provide nourishment and comfort to those in need, Today.com reports.
The tornadoes that swept through the South and Midwest this past weekend left communities in ruins. Mayfield was among the hardest-hit areas. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear shared that more than 100 people were trapped inside a candle factory when it collapsed.

“That will be, we believe, the largest site, the largest place of loss,” Beshear told reporters.
As of Monday, at least 60 people had been reported dead, with more than 100 still unaccounted for. Forty workers were rescued from the factory, but tragically, many others—including Joe Ward, who had recently started working there to save for a home for his family of eight children—did not survive.
Survivor Kyanna Parsons-Perez described the terrifying experience: “It was extremely scary. Everything happened so fast. We were all in the storm area, then the lights started flickering, and suddenly we felt a gust of wind. My ears were popping, like being on a plane.”
Amid the destruction, Finch didn’t hesitate to take action. He drove half an hour with a grill and a truck full of food to the heart of Mayfield, setting up in a lot surrounded by leveled buildings to feed survivors.
Journalist Victor Ordoñez captured Finch’s efforts on social media, sharing a panoramic view of the devastation and highlighting Finch’s act of generosity:
“This man drove half an hour with a grill and a truckload of food and parked right in the middle of #Mayfield, Kentucky.”
Ordoñez added context to the scene:
“This was the scene right before Jim Finch set up his grill. Later, there was a church service in the same parking lot across from him.”
Social media quickly reacted to Finch’s actions, with many praising his selfless contribution.
“That panorama is horrific. Jim Finch brings light. I am sure the church service did too and so do you for documenting it,” one user wrote.
“What a blessing he is. He is warming hearts and bellies with his act of kindness,” another commented.
“Such a kind human being. I am humbled by his generosity of spirit!” added another.
For Finch, helping was simply the right thing to do. “I know they don’t have electricity, no restaurants, no running water, so I just figured I’d do what I can. Show up with some food and some water,” he said.
In the midst of tragedy, Jim Finch’s compassion is a reminder of the difference one person can make.
Thank you for your service, Mr. Finch! Because of you, we can!
