People mind-blown by futuristic 'doll house' neighborhood in China home to over 1,000 units
People have been left completely mind blown after seeing a futuristic ‘doll house’ neighborhood that is home to over 1,000 units.
The unusual apartment complex is located in Chengdu, which is the capital of China’s Sichuan Province.
The open design gives the impression of a ‘toy-like world’ according to one YouTuber who visited the area.
Posting a clip on the social media platform, Jimmy, who is known online as JimmyVisitsWorld, gave viewers a glimpse into the maze of stacked units that stands at around 17 storeys tall.
In the video, Jimmy explains how the open plan architecture ‘floods every apartment with sunlight and fresh air, making it feel like something out of a dream’.
In the caption of the clip, it says: “I visited a real-life dollhouse neighborhood in Chengdu, China. Over 1,000 units, all accessed by elevator, in a toylike world filled with sunlight and fresh air.”
Speaking to Newsweek about the experience, Jimmy said: “I first heard about this complex through Instagram when I was researching things to do in Chengdu.
“I’m not sure of the name of the neighborhood in Chinese. I believe in English it’s called ‘Manhattan Nature’.”
The content creator went on to say: “I don’t know much about the building. There are apartments and small businesses in the building. The apartment across has a different style.”
Many people took to the YouTube comment section to share their own reactions to the apartment complex, with one user writing: “Every square is like a 2 story house, with a staircase and everything. Your front yard is visible by many, but the inside is still private. Pretty cool.”
Another said: “This is actually a pretty good way for everyone to have a "house" of their own without wasting too much space. From what I see everything a good small house needs is there. Mind you we don't see the inside or know any of the problems that arise in such a place.”

A third person commented: “That is pretty cool but also requires a special sense of community as it is pretty easy for one person to agitate countless neighbors.
I have no experience reports but from afar it looks like an interesting and actually appealing hybrid between suburb and urban construction, what i would like to know is what it actually is like living in one of those.”
And a fourth added: “Reminds me of some of the mega buildings concepts in cyberpunk.”
