Put this thing in a lemon and put it in the corner of the house. Once the mosquitoes go away, they won't come back
There are many different ways to repel mosquitoes. You can use mosquito sprays, mosquito coils, or various essential oils to keep them away. Additionally, there are several natural ingredients that can help you repel mosquitoes from your home.
Lemon is one of them. You just need to take a lemon and a few dry cloves to safely repel mosquitoes without affecting your health. You can buy dry cloves at traditional medicine stores or places that sell spices and herbs.
How to Use Lemon and Cloves:
Cut the lemon in half horizontally. Then, insert a few dry cloves into the cut surface of the lemon. The more cloves you use, the stronger the fragrance will be, and the more effective it will be at repelling mosquitoes.
Place the clove-studded lemon in the corner of your house or in areas where mosquitoes gather, such as the bathroom, dining room, or living room. You can place the lemon on a plate to make it easier to clean up later.
Using Coffee Grounds:
If you often drink brewed coffee, you can use the coffee grounds to repel mosquitoes. Dry the coffee grounds thoroughly, then ignite them. Use the burning coffee grounds to fumigate the house, especially in corners where mosquitoes are abundant.
Note, when burning coffee grounds, you need to open the windows to keep the house ventilated. Also, be cautious with the burning coffee grounds, as they will not create flames but only emit smoke.
Using Pomelo Peel:
You can use pomelo peels as a mosquito repellent. Just dry the pomelo peel. When needed, take a piece of dried pomelo peel, light it, and let the scent spread throughout the house. You can place the burning pomelo peel at doorways, windows, or vents. Make sure to place it in a well-ventilated area and avoid closing the doors while fumigating the house, and keep the flame away from other objects.
Using Essential Oils:
Mosquitoes generally dislike the fragrance of various essential oils. You can use natural oils such as lavender, citronella, tea tree, cinnamon, or peppermint oils to repel mosquitoes. You can use these oils with a diffuser or mix them with the water used to mop the floors.
Additionally, one of the simplest ways to repel mosquitoes is by using mentholated oil, which is inexpensive and commonly found in many households. Just place a few drops of mentholated oil in corners where mosquitoes gather or apply it directly to your skin.
Applying a bit of mentholated oil on a fan will help the fragrance spread more effectively, making it easier to repel mosquitoes.
Bonus Tips for Using Old Toothbrushes:
Toothbrushes are indispensable tools, and ideally, you should replace them every 5–6 months or sooner if the bristles start to fray. Many people discard old toothbrushes when they replace them, but in fact, you can repurpose old toothbrushes for many tasks around the house.
For example, you can use old toothbrushes to clean faucets. Simply take two old toothbrushes, position the bristle ends together, and use a rubber band to hold them in place.
You can then use this tool to scrub faucets around your home, leaving them shiny and like new.
Other Uses for Old Toothbrushes:
-
Cleaning Computer Keyboards:
If you struggle with cleaning computer ports, laptop gaps, or keyboards, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to easily sweep away dust from hard-to-reach places. -
Washing Potatoes:
When washing potatoes, you can use an old toothbrush to scrub off dirt, especially if you need to use the potato skins in your dish. -
Cleaning Shoes:
Surfaces like the toe cap or the edges of shoes can be difficult to clean with a regular brush. You can use an old toothbrush to scrub these hard-to-reach areas easily. -
Treating Blackheads:
The area around your nose is prone to blackheads, and they are difficult to clean with your hands. Apply a small amount of facial cleanser on your nose, then use a clean, soft-bristled toothbrush to gently massage the area for about 5–10 minutes before rinsing off. Be gentle to avoid damaging your skin, and only do this once a week.
