To clean the mattress, you can do it in the following way

To clean your mattress, you can follow the method below — the results will surprise you.

After a period of use, mattresses tend to accumulate dust, sweat, and other debris, leading to unpleasant odors and creating an ideal environment for bacteria to grow. Regularly changing your bed sheets, mattress covers, pillowcases, and blankets is essential. However, the mattress itself is quite difficult to deep clean. Many people take their mattresses outside to sun-dry in order to kill bacteria. While this method helps, it cannot completely remove the embedded dust and dirt inside the mattress.

To clean your mattress at home, you can try the following steps:

Change Mattress Covers Regularly

To keep your mattress clean, make sure to change your sheets, mattress cover, pillowcases, and duvet covers frequently.

Clean the Mattress Surface

Each time you replace your bedding, use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris from the mattress surface, including seams, crevices, and edges.

For ordinary stains on the surface, dilute dish soap with clean water and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture directly onto the stained area and let it sit for 5–10 minutes. Then, use a clean cloth to blot and wipe the spot multiple times to absorb the liquid and lift the stain.

You can also use hydrogen peroxide to remove stubborn stains that are harder to clean.

If you don’t have a vacuum cleaner, you can use a soft brush to sweep off dust and dirt from the mattress surface. However, a vacuum cleaner will provide a deeper clean and save time and effort.

Use Baking Soda to Clean and Deodorize the Mattress

Baking soda is excellent at absorbing moisture and eliminating odors. Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda evenly across the entire mattress surface. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight — the baking soda will absorb moisture, draw out impurities, and neutralize odors trapped inside the mattress.

Afterward, use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove all the baking soda from the mattress surface.
