No need to rush to call a technician and waste money

Some Causes of Air Conditioner Water Leaks

Dirty Air Conditioner The most common reason for an air conditioner to leak water is a dirty unit. If the indoor unit is not cleaned and checked regularly, dirt accumulates, causing water to drip outside.

Clogged or Broken Drain Pipe Dust, insects, or foreign objects can clog the drain pipe, causing leaks and even breaks.

Installation Errors Some technicians may not create a proper slope for the water tray during installation. This prevents water from flowing outside and instead, it flows back through the indoor unit.

Damaged Indoor Unit Fan A damaged indoor unit fan can cause the indoor unit to freeze. In this case, water does not flow through the water tray outside but drips directly from the indoor unit.

Low Refrigerant (Gas) Low refrigerant can cause the indoor unit to freeze, leading to water leakage.

How to Fix Water Leaks from the Air Conditioner Regularly clean, check, and maintain the air conditioner. If the indoor unit fan is damaged or there is a refrigerant shortage, you need to call a technician to replace the fan or refill the refrigerant. If the issue is with the installation, you need to reinstall the drain pipe, ensuring a proper slope for water drainage. If the drain pipe is clogged, clean it. If it is broken, replace it with a new one. Simple Steps to Clean Your Air Conditioner

Step 1: Turn off the power to the air conditioner. Place a basin or plastic container under the indoor unit to catch any water and dirt that might fall during cleaning.

Step 2: Open the indoor unit cover and remove the air filters. Soak the filters in water, use a brush or cloth to clean them thoroughly, and let them dry.

Step 3: Clean the fan and the core of the unit thoroughly.

Step 4: Dry all the parts with a cloth, then reassemble the air filters and cover. Clean the exterior of the air conditioner.

Step 5: Turn the unit back on to let any remaining water drain out. Once the unit is running normally, turn it off to complete the cleaning process.
