BTS’ V Teases New Photo Book — Not Solo Music —With Cryptic ‘Type 1’ Poster

V of BTS is gearing up to share new material — but it isn’t music. The musician announced a new project, Type 1, on June 26. At the time, it was unclear whether he would be sharing an individual single, an EP, or a full-length album. But on June 27, the musician revealed Type 1 to be a 224-page hardcover photo book, out July 9. The announcement arrived in the form of a black-and-white poster shared on social media, which features V leaning against a wall.

According to a representative for the singer, “V was actively involved in choosing the shooting locations and naming the title.” The project, available for pre-order beginning June 27 at 11 a.m. KST, also includes bookmarks, postcard sets, and photo stickers.

There weren’t many clues in the somewhat cryptic announcement, but it did include what appeared to be lyrics sprawled across the top of the poster in white cursive. “I still wonder wonder beautiful story/Still wonder wonder best part/I still wonder wonder next story/I want to make you mind,” the text reads. Beneath it, V’s real name, Kim Taehyung, is typed out across the center of the poster.

V last released solo music in March, when he shared the one-off single “FRI(END)S.” Last year, the musician released his debut solo album Layover featuring “Rainy Days,” “Blue,” “Love Me Again,” “Slow Dancing,” and more.

Speaking with Rolling Stone ahead of Layover‘s release, V explained: “Since it’s my first solo album, I also think I was a bit shy, which is why the process took longer than expected. But because there will be more opportunities in the future to show the songs I’ve written, I thought it would be better to first introduce myself to the world as a solo artist. So the album reflects a variety of different musical styles that shows who I am. I’m still continuing to write songs now.”

Looking forward to the future, the singer added: “The music that I’m working on now is stylistically different from this album.”
