Enchong Dee willing to star in BL projects, hopes to be paired with Piolo Pascual, Alden Richards and more

Actor Enchong Dee is ready to take on Boys’ Love (BL) roles and has several actors in mind that he wants to work with.

In his interview with Star Magic’s “Spotlight Presscon,” Enchong shared that even before the release of the hit BL movie “Call Me By Your Name” in 2017, he had an intuition to work on BL projects.

He revealed that he approached Kriz Gazmen, the current head of Star Cinema, about his interest in BL projects.

“Actually, prior to all of these BLs, lumapit na ko kay Kriz Gazmen, nilatag ko na sa kaniya ‘yan [BL projects].” He added, “Pero I guess, I was just a small voice back then,” referring to his limited influence at the time.

Enchong admitted he should have shared his ideas with more people, as Thai BL rose to popularity shortly after. "I shouldn't have approached him [BL project ideas] to just one person, I should have approached more people, because after that, Thai BL took over."

He expressed regret that the Philippines didn't lead the BL trend, saying, "You know that, alas, we should have been the first. We can do better.”

When asked about potential co-stars for BL projects, Enchong mentioned Jericho Rosales, saying, "Maybe my brother Echo [Jericho Rosales] can do it." Because I was talking to him at a party, and then he told me a lot. Because he watched Elise, then he appreciated my performance."

He also expressed interest in working with Dingdong Dantes, Piolo Pascual, and Alden Richards, saying, "Dingdong, Piolo, Alden, all these brilliant actors."

Enchong concluded the interview by expressing his hope that a BL project will materialize for him in the future.

Recently, Enchong played a gay role in his entry for the 2023 Metro Manila Summer Film Festival, "Here Comes the Groom."
