'Days of Our Lives' Star Francisco San Martin Passes Away at 39 - Details
The soap opera star, best known for portraying Dario Hernandez in "Days of Our Lives," tragically passed away at the age of 39 on January 16, 2025.
Francisco San Martin, who started his career in theatre shows as a child, was found dead at his Los Angeles home.

As per the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, San Martin is believed to have died by suicide and the case's status is currently open. His passing has shocked fans, who remember him for his first soap opera role as Dario Hernandez on "Days of Our Lives." He appeared in several episodes of this production from 2010 to 2011.
The actor also featured in "The Bold and the Beautiful," where he portrayed Mateo, a groundskeeper, in 16 episodes. San Martin had a notable role in "Jane the Virgin" starring Gina Rodriguez. He portrayed Fabian Regalo del Cielo and appeared in Seasons 3 and 4.

Camila Banus, who played Gabi Hernandez, the on-screen sister of San Martin in "Days of Our Lives," has paid a touching tribute to him.
She wrote on Instagram, "Pepe, what can I say but I love you and rest in peace, my friend. My only witness that pau sang happy birthday to me in the middle of a concert in Hollywood, you couldn’t believe it. Love you mucho mucho mucho. I wish I had told you more."

TV journalist and producer Michael Fairman also mourned the actor, "Very, very sad. I am a bit in shock, as I saw Francisco at my gym most every day."
San Martin was born on August 27, 1985, on the island of Mallorca, Spain, before moving to Montana, where he began his acting career in children's theatre.

After relocating to Madrid in his teens, he pursued modeling and acting lessons, which led to appearances in various Spanish stage, television, and film productions.
After acting in a small role in the 2013 TV movie "Behind the Candelabra," he returned to daytime television in 2017 for "The Bold and the Beautiful."

The actor later reflected on his experience on soap operas, noting that he got a warmer and more welcoming environment working on the set of "The Bold and the Beautiful," contrasting it with the initial challenges he faced at "Days of Our Lives."
"At Days people were more standoffish, maybe because I was fresh from Spain and they really didn’t think I was experienced. I get a very different vibe at B&B," he explained.
