Donald Trump Elected 47th President of the United States for a Second Time
2024 U.S. Presidential Election: Republican candidate Donald Trump declared victory shortly after Fox News projected his win in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Speaking to his supporters in Florida on the morning of November 6 (Eastern U.S. time), Trump emphasized, “I want to thank the American people for the tremendous honor of being elected as the 47th and 45th president of this great nation."
He also celebrated the Republican Party’s success in gaining control of the Senate, saying, “America has entrusted us with an unprecedented and powerful mandate. We’ve taken back control of the Senate — it’s incredible.”
While other news outlets have yet to call the race, Edison Research shows Trump on a likely path to victory, having won key battleground states Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, while leading in four remaining states.
Fox News projected that former President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in a surprising win, securing his second term in the White House after an unprecedented election cycle filled with historic twists and two assassination attempts.
If confirmed, Trump would become the second U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland.
Trump was first elected as the 45th president in 2016, defeating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with a pledge to "Make America Great Again." However, he lost the subsequent 2020 election to President Joe Biden amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Following a nearly two-year campaign, a victory this time would bring Donald Trump back to the White House to continue his “Make America Great Again” agenda.
CNN has updated Trump’s Electoral College tally to 267, just three votes shy of the required majority. Meanwhile, other outlets, such as The Guardian, citing AP, have reported Trump’s win in Pennsylvania and noted strong potential for him to win in other critical swing states.
