Don't underestimate it

Oral cancer is a condition that can be diagnosed and detected early, but due to negligence, many people often mistake it for common mouth ulcers. By the time the disease is identified, it may be too late for effective treatment. Therefore, it's essential to recognize the early warning signs of oral cancer to take timely action.

Painful sores in the mouth
In the early stages, individuals may notice sores in the mouth that are not initially painful. However, over time, these sores can grow and become intensely painful. The pain often worsens if the sores tear and bleed during eating. If the swelling or pain persists for more than two weeks without any improvement, it’s crucial to consult a specialist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Bad breath, loose teeth
Some patients experience bad breath and issues affecting their teeth and gums. Notably, if you notice one or more teeth falling out without a clear reason, or if there are open gaps around the tooth roots that don’t heal, this could be a serious warning sign of oral cancer.

Sudden Weight Loss
Most types of cancer, including oral cancer, often cause sudden weight loss. This occurs because oral cancer can lead to difficulty swallowing (due to pain inside the mouth), which diminishes appetite and reduces food intake, ultimately resulting in rapid weight loss.
