His children are standing in the doorway now: wide-eyed, terrified, frozen. His youngest son, only six, grips the doorframe like he's bracing for the house itself to crumble. His daughter's voice cracks as she cries, "Daddy! Stop! Please stop hurting him!"

The officers don't acknowledge her. They don't acknowledge anyone. They shout over the chaos, over Marcus's attempts to explain, over the neighbors pleading with them to listen.

"This is my house," Marcus manages, his voice muffled by the concrete and the weight crushing his chest. "What did I do? Please, just tell me what's going on."

But the officers keep barking the same line: "Stop resisting! Stop resisting!"

Except he isn't resisting. The footage shows his hands limp, fingers splayed, palms open. Shows him trying to stay still, trying not to provoke more violence. Shows him fully complying even as one officer digs his knee deeper, making it hard for Marcus to breathe.

The accusation isn't a description of his actions; it's a script the officers cling to, a phrase they repeat like a shield to justify what they've already decided to do.

A neighbor across the street yells, "He lives there! That's his house!"

Another shouts, "Let him up! He's not fighting you!"

But the officers act as if no one else exists. One tightens the cuffs around Marcus's wrists until the metal bites into his skin. The other keeps his knee planted, eyes darting around like he's expecting an ambush instead of a front porch full of crying children.
