Wade asked her one simple question: where exactly did she believe she was standing right now?
Marissa laughed and answered that she was standing on property that should have belonged to Blackridge a long time ago.
Wade told her flatly that she wasn't standing on association ground at all, and that every square foot beneath her boots belonged to him.
Ignoring him completely, Marissa waved her maintenance crew forward, and workers began pulling fence posts, temporary barriers, and association signage down from the beds of their trucks. Wade told them to stop immediately, and Marissa overruled him without so much as glancing in his direction. He repeated the demand, ordering every one of them off his property, and Marissa refused a second time, apparently confident that refusal alone was enough to make her right. Every second of the exchange was captured on camera from multiple angles, building a record that would later speak far louder than anything either of them said out loud.
Then Marissa turned to Wade with a question dripping in contempt, asking him exactly what he thought he could possibly do about any of this. Wade didn't answer her directly. He simply looked past her shoulder toward the road, where a line of headlights was already approaching the gate.
