Kentucky man allegedly shoots woman over dispute regarding snacks: 'Yes, I ate your snack'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities in Kentucky took a man into custody after he was accused of shooting a woman during a disagreement that reportedly began over a snack.

According to local news outlets WLKY and WAVE, 56-year-old Kenneth Beals was arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident. Police said the investigation started at approximately 7 p.m. when a woman arrived at a hospital in the Louisville area suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm.

Officers reported that the victim told them the argument began inside a residence when her aunt noticed Beals eating a snack that had been saved for her children. As Beals was leaving the home, the woman confronted him about the food. Police documents cited by WLKY state that Beals allegedly responded, “Yes, I ate your snack, and it was good.”

Following the confrontation, Beals is accused of pulling out a handgun and shooting the woman in the arm. Witnesses at the scene, as well as the victim herself, identified Beals as the person who fired the shot, according to police.

Beals was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Authorities did not immediately release additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting or the victim’s condition beyond confirming the injury.

Court records indicate that Beals is scheduled to appear before a judge on January 6. Law enforcement officials stated that the case remains under investigation as they continue to review evidence and witness statements related to the incident.
