Kim Kardashian reveals how North reacted to backlash over fake tattoos and piercings

North West’s Epic Response to Online Trolls Over Fake Tattoos and Piercings: “This Is Such a Non-Issue”

Twelve-year-old North West is proving she’s inherited her mom’s confidence — and her ability to handle critics with grace.

Reality star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian recently revealed her daughter’s unbothered reaction to backlash over the fake tattoos and piercings she sported in a Halloween-themed TikTok video last month.

During a Complex “GOAT Talk” segment alongside All’s Fair co-star Niecy Nash-Betts, Kardashian, 45, shared how North decided to take matters into her own hands when negative comments began circulating online.

“She writes back to a comment, and she goes, ‘This is such a non-issue,’” Kim recalled with a laugh, calling it a “good clapback.”

According to Page Six (Nov. 2025), the incident occurred after fans began criticizing the young pre-teen’s edgy look — which featured blue braided pigtails, fake facial tattoos, a septum piercing, and layered silver jewelry. Some viewers accused Kim of “letting her daughter grow up too fast,” while others praised North’s creativity and confidence.

Halloween Fun Taken Out of Context

Kim was quick to clarify that North’s dramatic look was nothing more than playful Halloween fun.

“Her and her girlfriends, they love doing costumes, they love doing looks,” Kim explained in the interview. “It’s Halloween season, so they put on fake tattoos on their faces, fake piercings — they all had their colored hair. They looked like an opium Powerpuff Girls. That’s what they were going for.”

The Kardashians star noted that while online critics assumed she was “defending North to the end,” the reality was much simpler. “It was all part of a costume moment,” she said.

People Magazine reported that Kim didn’t appear upset by the controversy — instead, she seemed proud of her daughter’s maturity in brushing off the negativity.

“I’m Doing the Best I Can”

This isn’t the first time Kim has spoken out about raising North under constant public scrutiny. During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast in October, the Skims founder discussed how challenging it can be to navigate her daughter’s growing interest in fashion while the world watches.

“All the kids are wearing the same things,” she said. “But then my daughter tries to wear it and I’m like, ‘OK, we’re never wearing that again.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”

She admitted that parenting in the spotlight has been “really hard and really interesting,” especially now that she’s raising four children — North, 12; Saint, 9; Chicago, 7; and Psalm, 6 — largely on her own.

“I just ask people to give me a little bit of grace,” Kim said, adding that she’s “doing the best [she] can.”

As reported by BBC News, Kim also mentioned that her ex-husband Kanye West, 48, hasn’t called their children “in a couple of months,” leaving her to handle both parenting duties and the glare of public attention single-handedly.

North’s Confidence Is Winning Fans Over

Despite the online noise, North West continues to impress fans with her creative flair and humor. Whether she’s posting dance videos with her mom on TikTok or joining her at red-carpet events, the pre-teen is already showing the poise and personality of a star in her own right.

Many fans flooded the comments of Kim and North’s joint TikTok account with words of encouragement. “North has more confidence than most adults,” one user wrote, while another added, “She’s her mother’s daughter — unbothered and fabulous.”

For Kim, that kind of self-assuredness is something to celebrate. As she told People, “North knows who she is — and that’s the most important thing.”
