Hargrove didn't answer.
"You told Dr. Holloway that professors don't live in houses like his. What did you mean by that?"
"I was questioning whether he actually owned the property."
"Why would you question that? He was in the backyard with tools, clearly the homeowner. What made you doubt his ownership?"
"In my experience, people sometimes claim to own property they're actually just working on."
"People, or Black people? Because all 37 of your complaints for racial profiling involved Hispanic or Black citizens. Can you explain that?"
Hargrove's attorney objected, but the jury had heard enough. The body camera footage had already shown them everything they needed to know.
The jury deliberated for eight hours. They found Hargrove guilty on all counts: deprivation of rights under color of law, illegal trespass, illegal search, false arrest, and assault.
