"Southern Indiana Hospice. Out of Seymour."
"Vonnie Huff?"
Something moved in Ancil's face, and was gone. "Vonnie," he said.
Nolan nodded slowly. He had a way of nodding, slowly, that he had developed in interview rooms, that he knew made people want to fill the silence. "Who's the prescriber? She seeing somebody in Seymour?"
Behind the glass, Mattie Holcomb had stopped counting. She came to the consultation window from the inside, with the stock bottle still in her hand, and put her other hand flat on the counter.
"Sheriff," she said. "This is a counseling area. I'm about to counsel my patient's husband on his wife's medication. If you'd like to wait over by the front, Brandi will ring you out in just a minute."
"I'll just be a minute myself, Mattie."
"You'll be a minute somewhere else."
