Tips to remove water from your e.ars when swimming, do not clean your e.ars with cotton

If you have water in your ear, you will feel a tickling sensation in your ear that you cannot seem to get rid of. This sensation may even spread to your jaw or throat. You may also notice that your hearing is impaired or that you only hear distorted sounds.

1. How to get water out of your ear?

After a while in the cool water of the pool, drying the outer part of your ear with a clean towel will help you avoid the situation where water gets into your ear. But if water has already gotten into your ear, you can try some of the following measures:

- Gently pull your earlobe

Gently pull or vibrate your earlobe while tilting your head to one side (the side with water). While in this position, you can also try shaking your head from side to side to get the water out.

- Create a Vacuum

Tilt your head to one side, place your palm over your ear. Then quickly remove your hand from your ear and place it back over your ear. This will create a vacuum and help the water to be pulled out.

- Hot Compress

Soak a clean washcloth in hot water (hot enough not to burn you), then wring it out. Make sure the towel is completely dry before using it, otherwise the water from the towel will drip into your ear and add more water. Tilt your head towards the ear with the water and place the towel on the outside of the ear, leave it on for about 30 seconds then remove it for about 1 minute. Repeat this process 4-5 times.

- Use a hair dryer

Turn your hair dryer on the lowest setting. Hold the dryer about 10 inches from your ear and move it back and forth (as if you were blow-drying your hair). As the dryer passes over your ear, let the warm air blow directly into your ear. The heat from the dryer can evaporate the moisture in your ear canal.

- Use alc.ohol and vinegar to make ear drops

Mix alcohol and vinegar in equal parts to make an ear drop solution. Put 3-4 drops of this solution into the ear. Then gently rub the outside of the ear. Wait about 30 seconds and tilt your head towards the ear with the water to let it drain. If the water is stuck in your ear because you have too much earwax, vinegar may be effective in this case. Alcohol will help the water evaporate faster and may also limit the growth of bacteria. Do not use this method if you have any of the following conditions:
