Super typhoon Pepito is about to make landfall over the eastern coast of Catanduanes.

At 7:00 p.m. Saturday, it was over the coastal waters of Gigmoto, Catanduanes, still packing winds of 195 kph and gusts up to 240 kph. Wind signal no. 5 remains in effect over Catanduanes and northeastern Camarines Sur.

Signal no. 4 is up over Camarines Norte, northern and southeastern Camarines Sur, and northeastern Albay. Metro Manila is still under signal no. 2. After passing Catanduanes, Pepito will move northwestward over the waters north of Camarines provinces until early Sunday (November 17).It will then pass very close to or over Polillo Islands before making another landfall over northern Quezon or Aurora Sunday midday or afternoon.

Pepito may maintain its strength as a super typhoon while crossing the northern part of Central Luzon and eventually weaken into a very strong typhoon.It will be over the West Philippine Sea late Sunday or early Monday (November 18) and out of the PAR by Monday afternoon.Pepito will bring very destructive and damaging winds along its immediate path during its passage.

Storm storm higher than 3 meters is also expected especially along the seaboards of eastern and southern Luzon and Samar Island.Up to torrential rains are forecast over Bicol through early Sunday and over Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and parts of Calabarzon and Northern Luzon from Sunday to very early Monday. Lahar flow is also possible along the Mayon Volcano slopes in Albay.

The different hazards could lead to catastrophic and life-threatening conditions and cause widespread serious damage, flooding, and landslides in many areas in Luzon and Eastern Visayas, especially along the super typhoon's immediate path.
