The choke, commonly known as the "air choke," is a feature found on vehicles with carburetor engines, such as the Honda Wave Alpha or Yamaha Sirius RC. Its function is to adjust the opening of the choke valve inside the carburetor.

When you pull the choke lever out, the choke valve closes to its smallest opening. Pushing the choke lever back in returns the choke valve to its original open position. Changing the choke valve's position alters the fuel-air mixture ratio in the carburetor.

The choke is particularly useful for starting the engine in cold weather or after the vehicle has been sitting unused for a long period. Pulling the choke lever out creates a richer fuel mixture, making it easier to start the engine.

It's important to push the choke lever back in after the engine starts to prevent the engine from stalling due to a lack of air, which is also known as flooding the engine.
