7-Eleven Manager Allegedly Suffocates Employee During Shift—Victim Dies Days Later

A 24-year-old 7-Eleven employee has died after an alleged violent assault by her manager inside the store where she worked.

Jessica McLaughlin, 24, went in for her shift on June 24 expecting an ordinary workday. Instead, she became the victim of a shocking attack that her family says left her without oxygen for several critical minutes.

Family Claims Manager “Sat on Her” and Prevented Her From Breathing

According to Jessica’s relatives, a female manager confronted her during a shift at a Hollywood, California 7-Eleven. What began as a verbal dispute allegedly escalated into a physical assault.

Jessica’s brother, Sean McLaughlin, wrote that the manager “sat on her with her full weight,” pulled Jessica’s hair, and pinned her to the ground.

“She held her down, sat on top of her, and didn’t let her breathe,” he said. “When she finally got free, she collapsed. She wasn’t breathing.”

Family members also claim that when coworkers attempted to intervene, the manager turned on them as well.

Manager Allegedly Tried to Remove Security Footage, Then Fled

Sean stated that while coworkers performed CPR on the unconscious Jessica, the manager allegedly went into a back room in an apparent attempt to remove or erase security footage — then fled the scene on a bicycle.

By the time emergency crews arrived, Jessica had suffered severe oxygen deprivation.

Jessica Placed on Life Support, Family Prays for a Miracle

Jessica was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support. Her family maintained a bedside vigil for days — hoping she would wake up.

“For all of these days, her mom, dad, siblings, stepdad, boyfriend, and so many friends stayed by her side, hoping, praying for some kind of miracle,” Sean shared.

But the damage was irreversible.

“Her brain had stopped functioning. After getting second opinions and doing everything we could, we have to make the impossible decision to let her go.”

Jessica passed away on July 2.

Police Confirm a Physical Altercation Occurred

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed responding to the Hollywood 7-Eleven, where they found Jessica unconscious.

“Preliminary information indicated that two women became involved in a verbal dispute inside the business that escalated into a physical confrontation,” the LAPD said. Investigators have acquired surveillance footage but have not released it.

Following Jessica’s death, the case has now shifted to a homicide investigation.

7-Eleven Issues Statement

The company confirmed that the manager accused of the attack has been terminated.

In a statement, 7-Eleven said:

“Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time. The suspect has been terminated, and we continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation.”

A Family Left Devastated

Jessica’s loved ones describe her as kind, hardworking, and deeply loved by her family, friends, and longtime boyfriend. They are now left seeking justice for her death — and answers about how an ordinary shift turned into a fatal attack.
