They closed the isolation valves. They unbolted and lifted out the motor and impeller assembly.Then, instead of breaking the connection at the designed flange the way any qualified crew would, somebody made a decision with a reciprocating saw that would eventually cost that association more than everything else combined: they cut the discharge pipe on both sides of the booster, pulled out roughly nine feet of 8-inch main, and stripped the control wiring out of the conduit in a bundle.
