"I agree," I said. "Please leave."

She blinked, too slowly. "No one is threatening you."

"You're on my gate discussing what my dock will be used for. That's a threat to peace and a direct attack on my day."

Debbie cleared her throat with parliamentary purpose. "President Campbell would like to propose a compromise: we schedule your dock for limited community access during specific windows. In exchange, we provide—"

"No," I said.

"—a donation box for maintenance costs, and—"

"No."

"—a committee to ensure cleanup—"

"No."

Carol smiled weakly. "We can bring biodegradable plates."

"Bring them to the marina pavilion two coves over," I said. "Cindy Howard's daughter is allegedly getting married. I hear they have fairy lights."

The Chihuahuas yipped in scandalized unison.

Skyler leaned forward, voice quiet and chemically sweet. "You moved into an established community, Benjamin. People expect continuity, cooperation. If you obstruct that, you'll force processes we'd all rather avoid."

I tilted my head. "Skyler, if I walk into your backyard and stage a barbecue because your grass looks communal, would you consider that continuity or criminal trespass?"

"Apples and oranges," she snapped.

"Property and property," I said. "Same fruit."
