Insert this into a lemon and place it in the corner of your house — mosquitoes will be gone for good

A Few Simple Tricks to Get Rid of Mosquitoes in Your Home

Repel mosquitoes with lemon and dried cloves
There are many ways to drive mosquitoes away. You can use sprays, mosquito coils, or essential oils. In addition, there are plenty of natural ingredients that can help repel mosquitoes from your home.

Lemon is one of them. Simply take a lemon and insert a few dried cloves into it. This will safely keep mosquitoes away without affecting your health. You can find dried cloves at traditional medicine shops or spice stores.

The method is simple: cut the lemon in half, then stick dried cloves into the cut surface. The more cloves you use, the stronger the fragrance, and the better it works against mosquitoes.

Place the clove-studded lemon in corners of the house or areas where mosquitoes often gather, such as the bathroom, dining room, or living room. You can set it on a dish for easy cleanup later.

Using coffee grounds

Instead of throwing away used coffee grounds, dry them thoroughly and then burn them. The smoke helps drive mosquitoes out, especially in corners where they gather.

Note: keep the house well-ventilated when burning coffee grounds. The grounds will smolder without producing large flames.

Using dried orange or tangerine peels
Don’t discard orange or tangerine peels after eating. Their natural essential oils effectively repel mosquitoes. While the fragrance is pleasant to humans, mosquitoes avoid it.

Simply dry the peels and burn them. Although this method only works for a short time (a few hours), it will both repel mosquitoes and leave your home smelling fresh.

Repelling mosquitoes with garlic

Garlic is a powerful mosquito repellent. Mosquitoes dislike the smell of garlic essential oils and stay away from areas where the scent lingers.

Ways to use garlic:

  • Eat garlic: If you regularly consume garlic, a faint scent will be released from your skin, undetectable to you but very unpleasant to mosquitoes.

  • Apply garlic water on skin: For children, instead of chemical repellents, you can rub a little garlic water on their skin to prevent mosquito bites.

  • Boil garlic water and spray it: Use the solution to spray corners and hiding spots. Mosquitoes will quickly “flee far away.”

Using plant-based essential oils

Mosquitoes are sensitive to the scent of herbal essential oils. You can use lavender, lemongrass, eucalyptus, cinnamon, or peppermint oils. These can be diffused with an aroma lamp or mixed with water for mopping floors.

A simple and inexpensive option is menthol oil (often kept at home). Just place a few drops in mosquito-prone areas or apply directly to your skin. You can also put a few drops on a fan so the scent spreads more widely, helping to repel mosquitoes effectively.
