Ryan forced a smile. "Must have been rough. Dinner's ready."

Her lips curved. She leaned down, kissed his cheek. "What would I do without you?"

They ate together. She told detailed stories about her shift. He nodded, playing along. Afterward, she showered. When she came out in pajamas, Ryan sat on the couch with his laptop open. His face was unreadable.

"Check your phone," he said.

Her brow furrowed. She unlocked her phone, scrolled, and froze. He'd sent her Jordan's first video. Color drained from her face before she snapped.

"You had someone spy on me?"

"Jordan was at the festival. You were supposed to be at work."

"I... I left early. Wanted to grab food."

"In jeans and a tank top? Because you left here in scrubs."

"I changed."

"Madison." His voice cut like steel. "Who is he?"

She crossed her arms, defensive. "A friend. Just a friend from work. His name's Evan."

"You kissed him."

"Oh my god, Ryan, it was just a kiss! Why are you so insecure?"

Ryan leaned forward, eyes hard. "Just a kiss?"

"Yes!" she snapped. "It didn't mean anything. We were caught up in the music. It was innocent. You're blowing it out of proportion."
