Houses in Pandan, Catanduanes, flattened by Typhoon Pepito

A 19-year-old campus photojournalist from Catanduanes State University shared photos of damaged houses in Baragay Libod, Pandan, Catanduanes after they were hit by Typhoon Pepito on November 16 from the night until dawn.

Bayan Patroller Louise Tioxon says that after the storm subsided the next day, November 17, she went around her community to document the damage caused by Typhoon Pepito.

In the photos she shared, several neighbors can be seen searching for items in damaged houses that could still be salvaged.

Tioxon is grateful that her house was only slightly damaged, but many of her neighbors were left homeless by the storm.

"Those whose houses were damaged are currently staying with relatives whose houses are in order. I went around earlier and almost the picture I sent you is still in the same situation. They don't know where to start," he said.

According to the Bayan Patroller, it is his responsibility as a campus journalist to inform the public about the situation in their community so that help can be sent.

There is still no electricity supply in the area and there is still no internet connection from telecom providers other than Starlink, Tioxon added.
