LEARN: What to do during a disaster?

This Tuesday, a magnitude 7 earthquake shook Abra and other parts of Luzon.

At least 5 people died while 64 were injured due to the said tragedy.

But what can Filipinos do to stay safe from disasters such as earthquakes?

In TeleRadyo's "Sakto" program, disaster response and preparedness expert Dr. Ted Esguerra is what Filipinos should do to survive the earthquake.

Esguerra also stressed the importance of earthquake drills in schools so that children know what to do in times of tragedy.

"Over and over again, we need to have a drill. And I hope all schools, the (Department of Education) would impose that we build our own incident management team."

The expert added, it is important for students to have a go-bag with a first aid kit and other basic necessities.

"I would also like to encourage the DepEd, that if possible, I don't want to make it mandatory, especially in elementary and high schools. No, let's make it compulsory for (the children) to have helmets and go-bags with them."
