My mother-in-law sent me something but it was all dirt and sand. I was shocked when I discovered what was inside.
Seeing that my friend liked the vegetable box that her mother-in-law sent, I didn't hesitate to give it to her, but in the evening she rushed over.
Right from the first time I met my husband in the club at university, I was attracted by his handsome appearance, his enthusiasm and energy. So from then on I started planning to "flirt" with him, but no matter how proactive I was, he still refused to accept my love.
I'm beautiful, a city girl, my family has conditions, is there anything that I'm not worthy of him? Angry, I asked him directly and found out that he had an inferiority complex about his family situation, felt that loving me was climbing too high, so he didn't dare to reach out. Because he came from the countryside, his family conditions weren't very good, and his family had many siblings. It wasn't until I said I didn't care about those side issues that he agreed to love me.
Because my husband's family is poor, my parents are very understanding and do not require an elaborate dowry, just a small black money and 5 proper bride-asking trays. After the wedding, my parents bought my husband and I an apartment in the city to settle down, because we both work here. Therefore, my husband and I rarely go back to my husband's hometown, only when there are ceremonies or events at home. Because of that, I rarely have the opportunity to meet my mother-in-law.
However, I still call my mother-in-law regularly to ask about her, and she often sends food and drinks to my husband and me, sometimes a chicken, sometimes a bag of vegetables. She said that the food in the countryside is fresh and clean, without worrying about pesticides, and sending it like that will help my husband and I save a fair amount of money.
To be honest, I do not like it at all because I am used to buying clean vegetables and pre-processed food at the supermarket. The vegetables my mother sent up often had worms or dirt on them. Every time she sent them up, I had to pick them up and the dirt fell off, making the house very dirty. Many times I told my mother to wash them before sending them, but she said that washing them like that would spoil the vegetables easily. Although I didn't like it, I didn't dare say it directly because I was afraid my mother-in-law would be sad and upset, so I had to accept it.
Last Saturday morning, my mother-in-law packed a box of vegetables to send up. I had to run to the bus station to get them. Coincidentally, when I just got home, my friend who lives in the same building came over to visit. When she saw me open the box of vegetables, she exclaimed in admiration. Seeing her like it, I didn't hesitate to give it to her, partly because I was afraid of getting it dirty, and partly because my husband and I had just gone to the supermarket to buy a lot of food including meat, fish, and vegetables that filled the refrigerator, and now we had no more space to store them.
Seeing my friend like it so much, I didn't hesitate to give away the box of vegetables my mother-in-law had just sent. (Illustration)
In the evening, my friend hurried over to give me a bag of cigarettes, which made me feel embarrassed and confused.
- Oh, I saw this bag of medicine in the vegetable box, inside there was a piece of paper saying it was a foot bath medicine for my daughter-in-law, so I brought it back. You are the best, your mother-in-law took care of every little thing, sent you clean vegetables and was careful and considerate, even sent you foot bath medicine. I wish my mother-in-law was like that.
Right at that moment, my husband came home and heard the whole story between me and my friend. Knowing my actions, he was very angry because he felt that his wife looked down on his mother, I had to apologize and explain for a long time before he calmed down. That night, I called my mother-in-law and my eyes were teary when I heard her say:
- A few days ago, I heard you say that your feet were aching, so I packed you another bag of cigarettes. This medicine is very effective, I soaked my feet for a few days and the pain was much better, remember to use it. This time the chicken laid a dozen eggs, knowing that you like to eat them, I wrapped them all and sent them to you, eat them to nourish yourself, when I have more I will send more.
Hearing my mother say that, I felt extremely sorry. I didn't dare tell my mother that I gave away all the vegetables she sent without even looking to see what was inside, if she knew she would be very sad. I haven't taken care of my mother for a single day, and she takes care of me every little bit, yet I criticize her, I'm really a bad daughter-in-law. But luckily I still have a chance to make things right, right?
