The name hung in the air for a fraction of a second before the impact hit. Klaus Richter inhaled sharply, his heavy brow furrowing in sudden, profound recognition.

"Chloe Adams," he repeated, his German accent thickening with disbelief. "The lead international liaison for Aegis Global Consulting. The woman who drafted the Geneva Maritime Accord in 2021."

"Yes, Herr Richter." Chloe nodded respectfully, acknowledging the German tycoon. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person. I studied your engineering treatises extensively during the Geneva negotiations."

Jean-Luc Fontaine gasped, slapping his hand against the table. "Mon Dieu! You are the architect of the European Trade Alliance! We searched for you two years ago when we needed an arbitrator for the Mediterranean shipping lanes. You vanished from the industry!"

"I didn't vanish, Monsieur Fontaine," Chloe said, her eyes drifting slowly back to Caldwell, who was now gripping the back of his chair so tightly his knuckles were white. "I was erased. Three years ago, Richard Caldwell orchestrated a massive offshore embezzlement scheme to artificially inflate his company's stock before a public offering. When the federal auditors closed in, he needed a scapegoat. Because I was the lead liaison handling his international accounts, he forged my signature on the authorization documents, paid off a team of corporate lawyers to bury me in non-disclosure agreements, and fed my reputation to the financial press."

Caldwell was hyperventilating, his eyes darting toward the exits. "This is slander! This is actionable defamation! I'll sue you into oblivion, Adams! I still have those NDAs!"

Chloe offered him a cold, brilliant smile. "You do. And I cannot speak a single word about the embezzlement scandal of 2023. But your lawyers were very specific, Richard. They barred me from discussing past indiscretions. They never said I couldn't translate your real-time, live admissions of corporate fraud regarding a completely new joint venture in 2026."

She gestured gracefully toward the four European billionaires. "These gentlemen just heard you confess in your own words to plotting the financial ruin of their respective companies. They heard you admit to bypassing unions, violating safety codes, and scamming the Spanish government. And I simply translated it for them."

Caldwell looked at the investors, his face pleading. "Gentlemen, please. She has an agenda. She's a bitter, ruined woman. We can renegotiate the terms. I'll take a smaller percentage. We can make this work!"

Alejandro Navarro stood up. He did not say a word to Caldwell. He simply picked up his water glass and calmly, deliberately, poured the remaining ice water directly over Caldwell's leather briefcase, soaking the contracts inside.
