I’m A Celebrity backlash over Kelly Brook’s ‘tasteless’ behaviour to Alex Scott and Shona McGarty

They missed out on breakfast… and viewers were furious.
Kelly Brook found herself facing fresh backlash on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! tonight (November 22) after appearing very enthusiastic about a slap-up breakfast — despite two starving campmates being excluded from the treat.

On yesterday’s episode, it was revealed that badge-less celebrities Alex Scott and Shona McGarty would be taking on tonight’s Bushtucker Trial. Because they had not been awarded explorer badges by camp leaders Vogue Williams and Tom Read Wilson, they were also excluded from joining the rest of the camp for a rare cooked breakfast. (ITV)

The twist sparked tension online, and Kelly’s reaction — gleeful excitement — only added fuel to the fire.

Breakfast news breaks in camp

Ant and Dec entered camp to deliver the announcement: some celebrities would be treated to a full fry-up, complete with sausages, bacon, and coffee — a luxury compared to the usual rice-and-beans diet. They also revealed that Vogue and Tom would be completing the trial with Alex and Shona, meaning all four would miss out on breakfast entirely.

Alex and Shona looked devastated. Martin Kemp — who has been protective of the younger campmates — held his head in his hands, visibly frustrated on their behalf. (BBC Entertainment)

But several other celebs seemed far too excited to notice the awkwardness.

“Oh no, I feel bad for them… Do you think there’ll be coffee?!”

Ruby Wax was the first to burst into celebration:
“Yes! I don’t know what to say!”

Kelly Brook, beaming, added:
“We’re going to actually eat, Ruby — a proper meal!”

Then, glancing at Alex and Shona, Kelly delivered the line that caused social media to erupt:
“Oh no, I feel bad for them… Do you think there’ll be coffee?!”

Viewers instantly branded the remark insensitive, pointing out that Alex and Shona had looked worried and disappointed — and that celebrating loudly right next to them was tone-deaf. (Metro TV Reaction)

Kelly continued fantasising about the meal:
“Slap-up fry-up,” she said, despite dealing with a rash on her neck the night before.
Aitch joined in: “Sausage, bacon, beans… I don’t care about anything else. And bread!”

He later admitted in the Bush Telegraph, “Alex and Shona — I do feel a little bit sorry for them,” though viewers felt the sympathy was overshadowed by the excitement.

Breakfast-gate: Fans blast “insensitive” gloating

Viewers on social media were furious, calling Kelly’s loud celebration “tasteless,” “thoughtless,” and even “cruel.”

Some of the reactions:

  • “Kelly needs to shut her pie hole, I swear to God.”

  • “Tasteless of Kelly to be the loudest one about breakfast.”

  • “Kelly yapping about breakfast while standing RIGHT next to Alex and Shona… unbelievable.”

  • “They’re clearly upset about the trial — Kelly shouting ‘Sausage and coffee!’ isn’t helping.”

Others pointed out that being denied breakfast while watching others celebrate would be emotionally brutal:

  • “If I was there and didn’t get breakfast while others bragged, I’d cry. Have some compassion.”

  • “It’s harsh to gloat when two campmates are heading off hungry to a trial.”

  • “I couldn’t sit there indulging myself knowing they were starving and doing a trial to win food for us.”

Several fans suggested the campmates should have acted with more sensitivity — especially as hunger is a well-documented struggle every season (Radio Times, I’m A Celebrity analysis).

Trial triumph

Despite missing out on the fry-up, Alex, Shona, Vogue and Tom remained focused and pulled together. The foursome tackled the Bushtucker Trial with determination — and won all 12 stars, securing a full dinner for camp.

A flawless win, which viewers applauded as a moment of redemption after the breakfast snub.

Let’s hope the rest of camp let them have an extra spoonful at dinner — though, knowing jungle life, they probably still didn’t get a cup of coffee.
