A few days ago, a woman who has worked in cleaning for more than 30 years shared with me a small secret for cleaning floors effectively. According to her, using this method not only makes the floor clean but also helps prevent dust buildup and unpleasant odors.

A little hair conditioner
Especially in summer, adding hair conditioner to the mopping water helps prevent static electricity, reducing the amount of dust that sticks to the floor.
By combining all these ingredients in the mopping water, you will have an effective floor-cleaning solution that keeps your floor clean and dust-free for longer.
In addition, you can add a little medicated oil (such as menthol oil) to the bucket of mopping water. This not only creates a pleasant fragrance but also helps repel mosquitoes and insects.
After adding all the ingredients to the bucket, stir well to dissolve everything. Then simply dip the mop into the water and mop the floor as usual.
You will notice that even a very dirty floor becomes bright and clean after just one mopping. With this method, no matter how dirty your floor is, it can be cleaned easily. In particular, you may not need to mop again for an entire week, as the floor will remain clean and odor-free.
You can also refer to these 3 other effective methods
1. Using rice-washing water
Most people usually pour away rice-washing water. However, it is extremely effective for cleaning floors. Rice-washing water does not damage the floor and even helps maintain it.
After sweeping the house clean, use rice-washing water to mop the floor.
This will make the floor very clean. In addition, rice-washing water creates a protective layer that helps prevent dust from sticking to the floor.
You can add a little white alcohol to the rice-washing water. Alcohol helps disinfect and speeds up evaporation, preventing footprints from being left on the floor.
2. Using a bar of soap
You can use a bar of soap instead of commercial floor cleaners.
Soak the soap in a basin of warm water and rub it until it dissolves and forms soapy water.
Use this soapy water to mop the floor. This method removes dust and grease effectively. At the same time, soap also has good disinfecting properties, making the floor shiny and clean.
3. Using laundry detergent
Laundry detergent is not only for washing clothes but can also be used to mop floors.
Prepare a bucket of water and add a small amount of laundry detergent, then stir well. Using this solution to mop the floor helps remove dust and grease while leaving a gentle fragrance in the house.
Some notes when cleaning floors
-
Tiled floors are easier to clean than wooden floors. Wooden floors can swell, warp, or peel if exposed to water and cleaning solutions.
-
Before mopping, remove any objects on the floor and vacuum to eliminate dust.
-
Prepare the cleaning solution carefully. The less water you use, the lower the risk of damaging wooden floors. However, choose the right cleaning product so you do not need to mop multiple times.
-
After mopping, let the floor dry naturally.
-
Try to clean all stains in one pass. Avoid mopping the same area repeatedly.
-
Open windows to improve ventilation and help the floor dry faster. Once dry, wipe again with a soft cloth to make wooden floors shinier.
-
On humid days, it is best not to use a wet mop. Use a dry cloth instead to reduce indoor humidity. On such days, you should also avoid opening all doors and windows wide, as moist air can enter the house, making the floor damp and uncomfortable.
