Logan listened to the names with disdain. With each revelation, the value of that office diminished in his eyes. And the hardest part was realizing that Vanessa seemed numb to it all, as if living surrounded by normalized betrayals made her less responsible for her own choices.
Logan rubbed his face, took a deep breath, and stood up. He said he no longer trusted her. Vanessa widened her eyes, surprised by the request. She asked if he was serious.
He simply said yes: that after seeing what he saw and hearing what he heard, he needed clarity; that if she thought there was still some dignity possible, she should start by owning her actions.
She hesitated, but eventually agreed. She grabbed her phone, positioned it on a stand, and sat on the couch. Logan stood a few feet away, watching.
