"Is that your vehicle?"

The son swallowed. "Yes."

The officer pointed at the box. "Then you need to explain that."

The officers handled it carefully. Inside were several key fobs, fake temporary plates, and folded ownership papers with different names on them.

The tow driver looked over and said, "That is not normal."

The son said nothing. His mother suddenly looked sick.

One officer walked around the Porsche and checked the VIN near the windshield. Then he checked the door. The numbers did not match.

The Porsche was not just badly damaged. It was hiding something.

The officer asked the son again, "Where did this car come from?"

The son mumbled, "I bought it."

"From who?"

No answer.

His mother stepped in. "He doesn't have to answer that."

The officer looked at her calmly. "Ma'am, this vehicle may be connected to fraud or theft."

She snapped, "You always exaggerate things."

The whole driveway went silent. Even her son looked at her like he was begging her to stop talking.
